What Can I Do?

 

1.      Write a letter to Eric Pickles Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government objecting to the use of green belt land to build large unsustainable housing estates in East Dorset.

2.      Participate in the SAVE OUR GREEN SPACES campaign.

3.      Write, Telephone or Email one, several or all of the contacts listed below. Write to the local and national press, let them know what you think.

4.      Keep in Touch with the Campaign

         Your email address will only be used to keep you informed of our campaign and will not be released to any third party.  Once the campaign has run its course for good or bad, or before if you request it, your email address will be deleted from our database.

5.      Display your support for the Campaign. Print off some stickers and display them in your window/door/car.

6.      If you have not already done so sign up to be a consultee to the Local Development Framework (LDF). This just means you will be included in any releases of information about the LDF and may get a chance to influence future planning decisions.

Keep Wimborne Green has been told that the Council intends to hold a Public Consultation in the autumn concerning different options regarding sites for house building. Make sure you participate and let the council know what you think.

7.      Become a member of the Campaign to Protect Rural England. They are spearheading resistance to unsustainable development in Dorset.

Caroline Flint, the Housing Minister objecting to the 3 million new homes proposal. Click here

8.      Keep a written record of all animals and rare birds seen within the greenbelt areas to the North of Leigh Road and in the Burts Hill area, recording date and time seen and position within the fields e.g. west of Cutlers Place. Send these details to:

They are obliged to keep records and this could be useful if any development is planned.      

9.      Keep an eye on the local press and TV and review this web site regularly. The most up to date information will be on the Latest and Diary pages.

10.     If you live in the area surrounding either the Greenbelt land to the north of Leigh Road or to that in the Burts Hill area and have experienced flooding in your house or garden due to surface water or sewerage pleas contact us with the details. If you have suffered from subsidence please also let us know the details.

11.     If you have any old photographs of these Greenbelt fields which show interesting historic sites, old rights of way or ancient hedgerows please contact us. In fact any information you feel may help our campaign to save the greenbelt land from development please contact us.

12.     We need funds to pay for publicity, postage, stationery etc so if you would like to donate something to our fighting fund please send your cheque (made payable to Keep Wimborne Green) to the Treasurer:
