East Dorset County
Council Policy and Resources committee recommended to the council members to
approve the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessments.
These
assessments are a Government requirement and the adoption of these, the
Council hope, will assist it to continue to protect the greenbelt in East Dorset from speculative development

Ministerial meeting
with Iain Wright, Minister for Communities and Local Government and report
back by MPs to larger gathering of constituents
The MPs attending the ministerial meeting with Iain Wright are
Martin Horwood (Cheltenham), Laurence Robertson (Tewkesbury), Annette
Brooke (Dorset Mid and Poole North), David Drew (Stroud), Steve Webb
(Northavon) and Parmjit Dhanda (Gloucester) (tbc), along with a
constituency campaigner or council leader from their area.

voted unanimously to reject the Council Planning Officers’ recommendation

Colehill Parish Council met at the Colehill Memorial Hall to consider the
Planning application to build 61 new dwellings on land adjacent to 5 Heath
Close. A packed hall heard the Council vote to recommend the application be
rejected by EDDC.

A public meeting was held to discuss the
creation of a Parish Plan for Colehill.
A packed hall listened to a number of presentations and then voted
to prepare a parish plan. A number of residents volunteered to be on the
Steering Committee.

Meeting of the East Dorset District Council
Policy and Resources Committee at which, among other things, the
development of land off Leigh
Road was discussed. The consultancy firm PMP
submitted a revised proposal which was accepted by the committee but any
plans to develop this land as playing fields were postponed indefinitely

A meeting of the full council (EDDC) ratified
the recommendations of the Policy and Resources Committee.
Further changes to the submission were made
relating to the numbers of homes to be built in East
Dorset. A reduction was necessary due to the committee’s
recommendation to object to the inclusion of any urban extensions except
the one at the allotments at The Cuthbury.

Meeting of the East Dorset District Council
Policy and Resources Committee, at which East Dorset District Council
formulated their submissions on the Regional Spatial Strategy. A large
number of the residents of East Dorset
attended. The CPRE, local community groups including Keep Wimborne Green,
Keep Corfe Mullen Green and Keep Parley Cross Green made written
submissions and there were a number of presentations to the committee from
the aforementioned groups and also from a number of local councillors and
other interested parties.
The committee recommended that all urban
extensions except that relating to the allotments at The Cuthbury were
removed from the Draft Regional Spatial Strategy.

S.W.R.A.meet to agree draft of Regional
Spatial Strategy

S.W.R.A. meet and discuss the draft Regional
Spatial Strategy (R.S.S.) and the proposed levels of housing development
required in the region. The levels are broadly agreed subject to further
evidence of figures etc. They indicate to E.D.D.C. that their proposals
should not be site specific. A more specific discussion on the review of
the green belt is deferred to 10 March 2006.

E.D.D.C. Policy and Resources Committee meet.
We formally present our petition against loss of green belt land and are
told again of the 5sites that E.D.D.C. have identified for possible house
building. A letter is received from W. Wallace,
Head of Policy and Planning for E.D.D.C., in it he says, “no green belt
boundaries are forever, although they are intended to provide a high degree
of certainty and durability”.

development on green belt sites.

South East Dorset Strategic Planning and
Transportation Joint Committee meet in Poole
and 5 green belt sites are identified for housing development. These sites
are listed and the information sent to the South West Regional Assembly
(S.W.R.A.).

leaflet is issued by East Dorset District Council (E.D.D.C.) and sent (by
us) to residents requesting that everyone return the “Community
Involvement” tear off. East Dorset Statement of Community Involvement
(pre-submission draft).This briefly explains how various interested parties
can get involved with the Local Development Framework that replaces East
Dorset Local Plan 2002.
This statement of community involvement (SCI)
is supposed to ensure that everyone knows what is going on
