What’s this Site About?

It’s about Keeping Wimborne Green

Take a look at the two pictures at the top of this page.  They show the present and the potential future of some of our local green spaces.  The one on the left is greenbelt land in the Wimborne area; land that is under threat by the unelected South West Regional Assembly (SWRA) in Taunton.  The one on the right is what may happen to this land if the SWRA makes the wrong decision.

If you prefer the picture on the left, or are concerned by any of the following:

·          increased traffic and road congestion,

·          creeping urbanisation,

·          unelected (and geographically remote) officials deciding the future of your local area,

·          increased noise and air pollution,

·          pressure on already overstretched local services, e.g. doctors, dentists, schools etc,

·          loss of wildlife and birds,

Please read on to find out what you can do to support or help to keep the green spaces of Wimborne.

  • The Latest news concerning the campaign

Fifty years ago, green belt land was identified as being vital for a good quality of life.  With increased pressure on the environment, your local green belt needs protection.  Without protection, your green belt may disappear under concrete; forever.  If you value the quality of life that green belt brings and want it to continue for you, your family and future generations, please support  the Campaign to Keep Wimborne Green.
